Stepping Up - Jane Kupsch promoted as a Director
It is with great pleasure we announce the appointment of Jane Kupsch as a Director of Brian Ward & Partners as at 14 October 2011.
Jane Kupsch joined the firm in 2004 as a senior associate in Sue Phillips’ commercial litigation team and has been instrumental in the team’s continued success. Jane was most recently part of the team that acted for the directors of Timbercorp in their successful defence of a class action.
Many of Jane’s cases raise questions over the discharge of directors of their fiduciary duties. Her experience gives her a sophisticated insight into this difficult area and equips her to provide hands on experience for directors managing corporations in crisis. She has worked for both public and private companies and has supported directors and officers through the difficulties of litigation and public examinations.
She has considerable experience in employment law, insurance claims, conflicting claims to intellectual property, contractual and trade practices disputes. She has both a plaintiffs and defendants practice.
Jane understands that an outcome based approach to practice means that every opportunity must be taken to protect or advance the client's interest. She approaches mediation and alternative dispute resolution creatively and with a view to finding an acceptable outcome for the client.
Jane’s exposure to commercial dispute resolution has exposed her to a broad range of commercial issues. She has experience in reviewing the content of broadcast material including advertising, insurance, defamation and copyright. She understands commercial risk and its management. She has considerable experience in transactional due diligence, corporate governance and corporate regulatory compliance.
She accepts that the contemporary commercial world involves disputes and their orderly resolution. She believes that within this reality there is still scope to listen carefully to the client, be it a corporation or an officer, and work professionally towards an outcome that is realistically achievable and meets the client’s needs.
